FP1 is a fixed (permanent) restoration and replaces the missing crown of a tooth. With FP1 restorations, the final crown can look very similar to the original tooth that is now missing. To fabricate this type of restoration, there must be minimal bone and soft tissue lost.

The implant must be placed in a position similar to where the root of the tooth once was. This type of restoration is best when the implant is placed immediately after the removal of the tooth or the removal of the remaining root of the tooth.

Generally speaking, 6 months after tooth removal you may start experiencing bone loss if an implant is not placed in the area of the extraction site.

Remember, the FP1 gives the best esthetic results and therefore should be considered immediately after tooth loss.
